JAMMU: Range Police Hqrs Rajouri Poonch organised a Wrestling competition at Kandi in Rajouri District. A large number of wrestlers from different Districts in Jammu Zone participated in the competition. In all 60 wrestling matches took place in three categories sub junior, junior and senior. Many veteran wrestlers of the area including Mohammad Ayub Pahalwan, who is Bronze Medallist in Asian Games, also
attended the function. DIG Rajouri Poonch Range S.D Singh-IPS was the Chief Guest and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri J.P Singh was the guest of honour. Speaking on the function DIG Rajouri Poonch Range expressed his happiness to see such a huge talent of wrestling in the area keen interest of the youth in wrestling, which as per his assessment, was on decline. He further said that it is important to promote wrestling competition as this will motivate the youngsters to take care of their health and the same will also keep them away from vices like drug abuse, alcoholism and smoking. People in the area were highly appreciative of the initiative taken by the J and K Police to organise this in a far-flung region like Kandi Budhal.
