Wrestler Rehmat lifts Shiv Khori Kesari Title

Wrestler Rehmat Ali of Mallerkotla in Punjab lifted “ 14th Shiv Khori 2012” title by defeating Wrestler Benia of Basantgarh in Udhampur District in a neck to neck contest that lasted for 37 minutes at Government High School, Ransoo, the base camp of Shiv Khori Shrine in Pouni Block of Reasi district, last evening.
As a part of famous and historic annual 3-day Shiv Khori Mela, vishal Dangal was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department, Ransoo Dangal Committee and District Administration, Reasi under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue(ACR) who is also Executive Officer Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board Sukhdev Singh Sambyal was the chief guest. President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association who is also Member J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Sharma presided over the function. Tehsildar Reasi who is also Mela officer Gopal Singh, SDPO Head Quarter Reasi Ajitha Begum, Naib Tehsildar Pouni Rattan Singh and District Youth Services and Sports officer Reasi Dr. S.S. Chib were the guest of honour.
Both Chief Guest and Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Shiv Kumar Sharma, gave Rs 11,500/- as cash prize money to wrestler Rehmat Ali winner of 1st Malli in addition to “silver Gurj (Gadda) and Patta”, besides 7,000/- given to runner up wrestler Benia.
President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association thanked the Minister of Tourism Rigzin Jora and Director Tourism R.S Mehata for their support to the indigenous game of wrestling Minister has sanctioned Rs 55,000/- for organizing vishal Dangal as financial assistance.
In all 38 bouts played in the vishal dangal, Rs 5,000/- cash prize was awarded to Wrestler Saba of Amritsar in 2nd main bout while Rs 3,000/- was given to runner up, wrestler Qasim Din (Billu) of J&K Police. The 3rd main bout was fought between Kalu of Shiv Mandir Akhara Jammu v/s Malkeet of Amritsar. Kalu got Rs 3,000/- and runner up wrestler Malkeet was given Rs 2,000/-. 4th bout winner, Anil Kumar (Mohanu) of J&K Police got Rs 2,500/- and Rs 2,000/- was given to runner up Teg Ali of Mallerkotla.
Ransoo Dangal Committee Members and technical officials who helped for the conduct of this vishal dangal included Kewal Krishan, Paul Chand, Bhagwan Singh, Romesh Chander Kholi, Karan Singh, Mohan Lal, Romesh Chander Sharma, Sansar Chand ,Tilak Raj Kholi, Kapoor Singh, Jugal Kishore Banathia, Capt Lehar Singh (Retd.) Vijay Singh (Biju), Mohd Fared, Pappu Lakri, Varinder Sharma and Ram Krishan.
Mr. Sharma thanked District Administration Reasi, Tourism Department, Wrestlers and people who participated in vishal dangal. He said it is an occasion of pride for all of us that such big event was being held at Ransoo which would send a message of love, peace, entertainment and brotherhood to the entire country.
Among other, Working President District Reasi Indian Style Wrestling Association Pappu Lakri, District Horticulture officer Udhampur Varinder Sharma, Dy SP P.L Sharma, S.H.O Ransoo Ranbir Singh Bhau, Dr. Raiz of Ransoo and large number of people were also present on the occasion.
