भीम पहलवान की याद में , उनके पैत्रिक गाँव रामपुर कासना में , उनकी स्मृति में दंगल आयोजित किया गया ! यह सोलहवां दंगल था ! हमेशा की तरह कुश्ती प्रेमी, पहलवान , दर्शक गण दूर दूर से दंगल में शिरकत करने पहुंचे ! भीम पहलवान अपने समय के महान पहलवान थे , उनकी गिनती उच्च कोटि के पहलवानों में की जाती है , अपने समय में ऐसा कोई भी बड़ा पहलवान न हुआ जिसने उनकी कला और शक्ति का लोहा न देखा हो ! देश विदेशों में उन्होंने अनगिनत कुश्तिया लड़ी और विजय पाई , मैट के कुशल खिलाडी , और दंगल के योद्धा भीम पहलवान की स्मृति में यह सोलहवां दंगल उनके गाँव की दंगल कमेटी ने सुचारू रूप से संपन्न किया ! भीम पहलवान ने एक लम्बे अरसे तक पहलवानी करते रहे ! १९६६ में तत्कालीन रास्ट्रपति डाक्टर राजेंदर पर्साद जी द्वारा उन्हें अर्जुन पुरस्कार से नवाजा गया ! १०९६०-७० के बीच १० साल तक भीम पहलवान राष्ट्रिय चैम्पियन रहे ! १९६२-६८ तक ४ साल तक वह राष्ट्रिय हैवी वैट चैम्पियन भी रहे ! १९६२ के चौथे एशियन खेलों में उन्हें रजत पदक मिला ! १९६३ में वह रसिया गए , जहाँ उन्होंने अनेक नामी अंतरास्तीय पहलवानों के साथ कुश्तिया लड़ी , वहां उन्हें चौथा स्थान प्राप्त हुआ ! इसी प्रकार इरान में उन्हें १९६४-६५ में कांस्य पदक प्राप्त हुआ ! १९६५ में वह कनाडा भी गए और उन्हें वहां बेस्ट खिलाडी और पहलवान की पदवी दी गई ! १९६६ में उन्होंने पांचवे एशियन खेलों में भाग लिए और चौथे स्थान पर रहे ! १९६७ में दिल्ली में आयोजित अंतर्रास्तीय कुश्ती प्रतियोगिता में वह फ़ाइनल तक पहुंचे और रूस के विश्व चैम्पियन पहलवान , अलेक्सेंडर से हारे ! १९६५-६६ में उन्हें कुंवर जसवंत ट्राफी से नवाजा गया ! और सर्व स्रेस्थ खिलाडी के सम्मान से नवाजा गया ! १९७० में वह मंगोलिया गए और वहां कुश्ती की अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्पर्धा में भाग लिया ! उन्होंने १९७० के छठे एशियन खेलों में भी भाग लिया ! इस प्रकार लम्बे समय तक कुश्ती से जुड़े रहे और १९७२ में उन्हें भारतीय स्पोर्ट्स कमेटी का सदस्य बनाया गया ! भीम पहलवान के समय और उनसे पुराने पहलवान उनका गुणगान करते नहीं थकते उन्होंने कुश्ती कला को बहुत ऊँचे स्थान तक पहुँचाया जिसका सब आभार मानते है !
इस बार दंगल में , बाल पहलवानों की कुश्तियां छोड़ बाकी कुश्तिया पहले से बंधी गयी थी ताकि कुश्तियां बाँधने में दिक्कत न हो , क्योंकि पिचली बार पहलवानों के हाथ मिलाने में काफी दिक्कत का सामना हुआ था .
दंगल में ६० से ऊपर कुश्तिया बंधी थी , बच्चों की कुश्तिया 51 /- से लेकर ३१००/- तक थी , फिर ५१००/-,७१००/- ११०००/- से होकर आखिरी कुश्ती ५१०००/- पर तय की गई थी !
दंगल में अंतर्राष्टीय कोच धर्मबीर, अशोक पहलवान व् भीम पहलवान के भतीजे किरण पाल जी व् श्याम पहलवान ने रेफेर्शिप का कार्य किया !
दंगल में भीम पहलवान के पोते दीपेश, व् ललित पहलवान, भूपेंदर पहलवान ने बहुत अच्छा पर्दर्शन किया और कुश्ती में विजय हासिल की ! इस प्रकार राजेश भाटी , जगबीर पहलवान की कुश्तिया भी देखने लायक थी ! दंगल की पहली कुश्ती सेना के मोहित उर्फ़ बल्लू पहलवान और रेलवे के वरुण पहलवान के बीच लड़ी गई , देर शाम तक चली कुश्ती में फैसला वरुण पहलवान के पक्ष में रहा और उन्हें ५१०००/- का इनाम दिया गया ! किरण पाल पहलवान जो की दंगल कमेटी के प्रमुख सद्स्स्य है ने दंगल ख़तम होने पर मुझे खान पान के लिए आमंत्रित किया लेकिन अँधेरा हो चूका था अतः मैंने उनसे क्षमा ली और धन्यवाद देकर वापस देल्ली की तरफ लौटा !
ENGLISH VERSION:
Bheem Pahalwan was one of the greatest wrestlers of modern India. In 1966, the president of India presented him with the coveted Arjuna Award for his great contributions to the sport and the country.
Bheem Pahalwan brought great honor to India throughout his long career. He wrestled in 10 consecutive national level games from 1960-1970 and was Indian heavyweight champion for 4 straight years from 1962 to 1968. He represented India at the Asian Games in 1962, 1966 and 1970 and wrestled in lots of other competitions all over the world – from Canada to Mongolia.
Though Bheem Pahalwan is gone, his memory survives and he is honored every year with a great wrestling tournament in Greater Noida’s village Rampur Kasna.
This year was the 16th competition.
Ashok Pahalwan from Railway Akhara and Coach Dharmbeer Pahalwan of Satpal Akhara were the referees along with Kiranpal Pahalwan. The announcers were Charan Singh Pahalwan and Ashok Pahalwan.
More than 60 matches were wrestled, the prize was from 50/- for kids and went on increasing from there to 101/-, 250/-, 501/- 1000/-, 2500/- , 5100/-, 7100/- 11000/- 21000/- and 51000/-.

Danish of Guru Jasram Akhara
Danish was up against a very tough wrestler from Guru Bishambhar Akhara. The wrestler dominated Danish throughout the bout, but in Indian wrestling, the only thing that matters is the pin and Danish was able to stay off his back the duration of the match. Finally, the referee called time and declared the match a draw.
Deepesh Pahalwan
Bheem Pahalwan’s grandson Deepesh is a powerful wrestler who took down his opponent easily, claiming victory with a pin.
Mohit Pahalwan, Armed Forces Vs. Varun Pahalwan, Railway Akhara
The first-prize match was between two international wrestlers. The match went on until the light faded and it was hard to see who had the upper hand. In the end, Varun won the match by fall.
Rajesh Bhati from Guru Hanuman Akhara
Rajesh Bhati is a very good wrestler from Guru Hanuman Akhara. He was up against another wrestler who had just won a spectacular match a few days before so there was a lot of anticipation to see these two wrestle. But they were so evenly matched that the bout went on for a very long time and in the end it was declared a draw.
Bhupender Pahalwan
Bhupender Pahalwan is a disciple of Guru Jasram. He is a fantastic wrestler and lightning fast. It’s common for him to pin his opponent in just a couple of minutes.
Anni Pahalwan
Anni Pahalwan from Guru Shyamlal Akhara continued his winning streak with another pin.
Lalit Pahalwan of Guru Jasram
Lalit pinned his opponent using an impressive desi technique called “nikal”.
Neha of Guru Rajkumar Goswami
The village of Rampur welcomes women wrestlers. Neha, a disciple of Rajkumar Goswami easily pinned another girl.
