Baba Shyam Ji Akhada – Village Rohad

बाबा श्याम जी अखाडा , रोहद , झज्जर हरयाणा

दिल्ली शहर कि भीड़ -भाड़ से दूर कुछेक घंटों कि ड्राइव से बहादुर गढ़ होते हुए सांपला पहुंचा जा सकता है जहाँ से रोहद गाँव कि लिए एक सड़क है जो सीधे गाँव के बाबा श्याम जी मंदिर पर और गाँव के द्वार पर जा मिलती है, मंदिर के प्रांगण में ही अखाडा है. वहीँ गाँव के एक निवासी सुनील रुहल मेरे अच्छे मित्र है उनके गाँव में कुश्ती की परम्परा फल - फूल रही है उनसे अखाडा देखने का आमंत्रण मिला , उनका बहुत -२ धन्यवाद,

अखाडा देखने जब गाँव में पहुंचा तो अखाड़े के गुरु , खलीफाओं व् गाँव के गणमान्य लोगों से भी मुलाकात हुई. उन्होंने व् भाई सुनील ने स्वागत सत्कार किया उनका आभारी हूँ, " रोहद गाँव में आपका स्वागत है, और आपकी कवरेज से गाँव के अखाड़े को एक अच्छी कवरेज मिलेगी और बच्चों को कुछ और अच्छा करने कि प्रेरणा , जिससे बच्चे अपने अखाड़े , गाँव का नाम देश दुनिया में ऊँचा करेंगे " सुनील भाई ने कहा

अखाड़े के गुरु संजय पहलवान से मुलाकात की , शांत स्व्भाव के संजय पहलवान बच्चों को तैयार करने में बड़ी शिद्दत और लगन से जुड़े हैं , अपने बच्चों को भी एक अच्छे पहलवान के रूप में देखने कि उनकी इच्छा है
" मै इसी गाँव में पैदा ,हुआ , इसी अखाड़े में अपने बड़ों से पहलवानी सीखी और वही आज की पीढ़ी को सिखा रहे हैं , कुश्ती कि परम्परा और आगे बढे , कम न हो यही हमारा प्रयत्न है " उन्होंने बताया

यहाँ अखाडा 100 साल से भी पुराना है इसमें हरयाणा पुलिस में DSP के पद पर कार्य कर रहे धर्मपाल पहलवान जी जो कि एशियाई खेलों के मेडलिस्ट हैं, छोटू,बनवारी, राजबीर जैसे पहलवान हुए , और भी बहुत से पहलवान आज बढ़िया पहलवानी कर रहे हैं जिनमे भोली,चियों , मोगली, विक्रम और संजय जैसे पहलवान हैं ! मैंने देखा कि अखाड़े में बाल पहलवान है उनकी कुश्ती के दांव पेंच कि कुशलता से बड़ा प्रभावित हुआ.

बाबा श्याम जी के सम्मान में मंदिर में एक बड़ा मेला लगता है , और भंडारे का आयोजन होता हैं, और आस पास के गाँवों के लोग शामिल होते है भंडारे का प्रसाद ग्रहण करते हैं , व् पूजा पाठ होता हैं.

गाँव के लोग बाबा श्याम जी के नाम से दो बार दंगल कराते है , जिसमे एक तो भारत केसरी स्तर का और दूसरा साधारण होता है ये दंगल होली और तीज के अवसर पर आयोजित किये जाते हैं जिसमे खिलाडियों के रहन सहन,खान पान, उचित इनाम व् अन्य व्यवस्था गाँव के लोगों द्वारा कि जाती हैं , संजय पहलवान गाँव के लोगों के प्रति आभार व्यक्त करते हुए बताते है इस परम्परा में गाँव का प्रत्येक व्यक्ति सहयोग करता है.

अखाड़े में मैट नया नया है, पहले पास के गाँव मांडोठी में बच्चे प्रैक्टिस के लिए जाते थे , हाँ अभी कोच नहीं हैं , लेकिन गाँव के कोच धर्मपाल पहलवान जी को लाने के गाँव के लोगों कि इच्छा हैं और उन्हें विश्वास है कि गाँव के लोगों कि इच्छा का नेतागण जरूर सम्मान करेंगे!

अखाड़े के कुछ बाल पहलवानो से बातचीत कर अच्छा लगा , खास कर आशीष जिन्होंने हाल ही में डिस्ट्रिक्ट लेवल में गोल्ड जीता , और नीटू पहलवान जिन्होंने ग्रीको रोमन शैली में स्टेट में ब्रोंज व् डिस्ट्रिक्ट में गोल्ड जीता , सभी पहलवानो में लगन हैं , और कुश्ती के कई दांव पेचों कि जानकारी मुझे सहजता से ही दे देते हैं

" हम बाबा श्याम जी से प्रार्थना करते है कि जिस भावना से आप कुश्ती के प्रचार प्रसार और उत्थान के लिए प्रयासरत हैं वो अवश्य पूरी होगी , और भगवान् आपका हर कदम पर सदा साथ देगा " संजय पहलवान ने कहा और अखाड़े के सभी गुरु खलीफाओं ने मेरे काम को सराहा और मुझे दुआ दी , जिसकी मुझे बहुत जरूरत भी हैं!

एक बार फिर सुनील भाई, रोहद गाँव के निवासियों , सभी पहलवानो का तहे दिल से धन्यवाद देता हूँ , जिन्होंने मुझे रोहद गाँव में कुश्ती के इस शानदार खेल से साक्षात्कार कराया


ENGLISH VERSION

Guru Sanjay Pahalwan runs an akhada in the beautiful village of Rohad in Haryana. As I arrived for a visit, my friend Sunil Ruhal received me on the village outskirts and a warm welcome followed by the village people and Guru Sanjay.
“I was born in this village and came to the akhada very early in my childhood; I learnt from the elders and the guru here and now I am teaching the same traditional wrestling here to the new generation. I wish the tradition to flourish and do not wish it to diminish. That is why I work here among the disciples and it is working,” says Guru Sanjay Pahlwan.
The akhada has produced many good wrestlers like DSP in Haryana Police, Asian Games medalist Dharmpal pahlwanji, Chotu, Banwari, Rajbir, etc. Now wrestlers like Bholi, Chiaoon, Vikram, Moughli, and Sanjay are bringing glory to the akhada. The akhada has a good number of young wrestlers who look very lean but are very skilled in traditional kushti.
Until recently, the akhada did not have a wrestling mat, only the traditional sand pit for wrestling, and wrestlers used to go to the nearby village of Mandoti to practice freestyle wrestling.
The Akhada is at the outskirts of the village and at the immediate vicinity of a beautiful temple of the Baba Shyam ji, a great deity/saint of India. A very big festival is organized every year in the honor of the deity and a community kitchen is held where all the revelers come to pray and sit together and eat from the community kitchen, not to mention it is always free of cost.
The village also organizes two wrestling competitions, one at the festival time of Holi and the other at the occasion of Teej. One dangal is like a Bharat kesri competition where wrestlers from all over India are invited to compete. The other is shorter. Arrangement of food, stay, and reward for the wrestlers are all done by the village committee.
It was nice to talk to a few wrestlers of the akhada, among them Ashish, a young wrestler who fought recently at the district competition at the 30kg weight category and stood first. He is determined to be a great wrestler and tells me about many techniques he is perfecting.
A junior wrestler named Nitu won a bronze medal at the state level and gold at the district level. I congratulated them and wished them best of luck in near future.
“We pray to god shyamji that whatever your are doing for the benefit and preserving and promoting traditional Indian wrestling will be a success one day and the god will always help and will be with you always,” says Guru Sanjay. It was a touching gesture of these great people of Haryana for which I thank them.
