Kushwant of Harayana lifts 16th Shiv Khori Kesari title 2014

JAMMU, Mar 1: Kushwant of Rohtak in Harayana lifted “16th Shiv Khori Kesari tittle 2014” by defeating Wrestler JODHA of Attari (Amritsar) in Punjab in a neck to neck contest held at Government High School Ransoo, the base camp of Shiv Khori Board in Pouni Block of District Reasi.

As a part of famous and historic annual three days Shiv Khori Mela Vishal Dangal was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department, Ransoo Dangal committee and District Administration, Reasi under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma.

Tehsildar Reasi (Settlement) Daljit Singh who is also Mela Officer was the chief guest on the event. Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function.

President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and President Ransoo Dangal committee Kewal Krishan gave Rs13,000 cash prize money to Wrestler Kushwant winner of Ist malli in addition to “Silver Guraj (Gadda) and Patta” besides Rs 9,000 given to runner -up Wrestler Yodha by Sarpanch Paul Chand and Sarpanch Swarn Singh.

President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association thanked the Minister of Tourism Gulam Ahmed Mir, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and Director Tourism Jammu Soujanya Kumari Sharma for there support to the indigenous game of Wrestling. Minister Sanctioned Rs 65,000 for organizing Vishal Dangal as financial assistance to the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.

In all 35 bouts were played in the Dangal. 2nd main bout was fought between Johny of Attari versus Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal Jammu. Johny won the bout. Cash prize of Rs 4000 was given to winner Johny while runner up Kulbir Singh got Rs3,000.

The third bout was won by Charrat of Attari who defeated Amir Khan of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu. Rs 3,000 was awarded to winner Charrat while runner up Wrestler Amir Khan got Rs 2,000.

The fourth bout was won by Murad Ali of Domana who defeated Dilllar Khan of J&K Police, Babba of Attari beat of Balwan of Mahore. Dalbir of Mahore beat Javed Khan of Jammu, Billu of Kot Bhawal beat Hossiar Singh of Mahore and Babba of Jammu beat Anil Kumar (Mohanu) of J&K Police.

Sharma thanked Tehsildar Reasi Daljit Singh, District Administration Reasi, Tourism Department, Wrestlers and people who participated in the Vishal Dangal. He said it is occasion of pride for all of us that such big events of Wrestling was held at Ransoo which would send a message of love, peace, entertainment and brotherhood to the entire country.
