The contest will be held in different weight categories namely 40 kg, 45 kg, 50 kg, 55 kg, 66 kg, 85 kg and 120 kg, said a release.
“Tulunadu Kesari”, “Tulunadu Kumar” and “Master Shivaji” titles will be conferred on the winners. The first title will be for the winner in the 74 kg category. The second title is for the iwnner in the 60 kg category. The third title is for the winner from the 36 kg category.
The contestants should have been born and brought up in Dakshina Kannada.
The selection meet will be organised on May 13 at Srinivas Mallya grounds from 3 to 6 p.m. Those participating in the 33 kg category should produce their birth certificates on May 13, said the release.
The event will include a procession that will begin from Halekote Mukhyaprana temple at 2.30 p.m. and move via Monkey Stand Road to Yemmekere grounds.
Seemant Kumar Singh, Mangalore Police Commissioner, will present the over-all winner trophy. B. Ramnath Rai, Bantwal, MLA, will give away the prizes.
The wrestling competition will be held on May 14 and the valedictory on May 15, the release said.
