Twenty wrestling bouts were held at the Wrestling Stadium, Iqbal Parks, Lahore on Fridat in connection with Eid celebrations. A large number of spectators were present on the occasion and enjoyed the keely fought bouts.The title bout was between Bashir Bhola Bhala and Nadir Pathan in which Bashir beat Nadir to win the Eid King Dangal title.In other main bouts, Shahid Majeed alias Billo defeated Nasir Pehalwan while the wrestling bout between Jhara Pehalwan and Tari Pehalwan ended in a draw. The participating wrestlers also welcomed holding of such competition.Tight security arrangements were made by police for the event.

LAHORE - Former Rustam-e-Asia Bashir Bhola Bhala won ‘Dangal Kings’ title here at the Iqbal Park on Sunday.

Bashir took 15 minutes to defeat Dahya Pahlwan and won the title over points. Dahya had no answers to the former Rustam-e-Asia’s tactics and techniques that entertained the fans to the fullest.

The event was sponsored by World Call Oman Telecommunication, Gujrat and Royal Fans to promote traditional sports as well as attract national and international donors.

The first Dangal started at around 4:40pm and 20 wrestling matches were contested. Usman Pahlwan of Sialkot defeated Azam Laraka, Umi Pehlwan of DG Khan beat Bala Jee of Shahdra while fight between Ahmad Butt of Lahore and Azam J Khan of Multan was ended in a draw. The winner’s received cash prizes ranging from five thousands to one hundred thousand in different weight categories along with trophies.

LAHORE: Former Rustam-e-Asia Bashir Bhola Bhala maintained his supremacy for the second time in Dangal, by winning another title, ‘Dangal Kings’ (DK), at Iqbal Park on Sunday.

Bashir took 15 minutes to defeat Dahya Pahlwan and won the DK title over wrestling rules points. Owing to his experience and expertise, Bashir was easily able to overpower Dahya, who in fact did not have any answer to the former Rustam-e-Asia’s tactics and techniques that entertained the fans to the fullest.

The Dangal aims to promote traditional sports as well as attract national and international donors.

The first Dangal started at around 4:40pm and 20 wrestling matches took place in total. The winners received five thousand to one lakh cash prizes and trophies in different weight categories.

Wrestling lovers including pehlwans, khalifas and masters of the art who had gathered from all over Punjab at the Iqbal Park Stadium to watch the Dangal.

With Dangal Kinges title in bag, Bashir now sets eyes on winning the next DK title match to be held next month in Iqbal Park Stadium.

Other than the main title, there were 19 more dangals lined up to set the tempo of the day and to the surprise and frustration of all those present in the stadium, two of them ended in a stalemate. But the main dangal amused all those present on the occasion. Talking to Daily Times, Bashir said, “I never take my rivals lightly. Any pahlwan who enters the field comes with full preparation and I never take my opponent lightly. Before any dangal I acquire hard training and ensure I don’t flounder.”

Usman Pahlwan Sialkot won over Azam Laraka, Umi Pehlwan DG Khan won over Bala Jee Shahdra Lahore, while fight between Ahmad Butt Lahore and Azam J Khan Multan ended in a draw.

गुरु मंगल राम , स्मृति दंगल - एक जनवरी , २०१२. नए वर्ष के शुभ दिन पर , राम दल व्यायामशाला कमिटी रजी. द्वारा एक सुन्दर दंगल का आयोजन किदवई नगर में किया गया ! किदवई नगर में राम दल अखाडा है जिसमे गुरु विजय कुमार पहलवान जी , बच्चों को पहलवानी की विधा सिखाते है ! यहाँ पर कुछ बहुत अछे पहलवान जैसे पहले गढ़वाली रुस्तम रघुवीर सिंह बिष्ट , उमन पहलवान इत्यादि रहे ! जिन्होंने १९७१ और १९७२ में जापान में पदक लिए ! गढ़वाली- पहाड़ी लोगों में उनके बाद अभी तक कोई अच्छा रुस्तम न हुआ , अपने उत्तरांचली होने के बाद मैं भी कुछ ज्यादा न कर सका, और अपने अखाड़े का एक छोटा सा पहलवान ही रहा ! अपने पिता के जन्मदिवस पर , विजय कुमार जी ने कमेटी सदस्यों के सहयोग से इस शानदार दंगल का आयोजन किया ! यह पहलवानी में उनके तीसरी पीढ़ी है, उनके दादा गुरु बलराम जी ने १९५६ में इस अखाड़े की नींव रखी थी , फिर उनके पिता जी श्री मंगत राम और अब वे इस अखाड़े का संचालन कर रहे है, ! कुश्ती विधा को समर्पित इस प्रकार के निश्चल और निस्वार्थ सेवा कर रहे लोगों ने ही युगों -२ से पहलवानी इस अद्भुत कला और परंपरा को जीवित रखा है, ! हैरानी की बाद यह है की कई -२ युग बदले पर किसी न किसी तरह से पहलवानी की यह विधा अपने मूलभूत रूप में अभी भी जीवित है, और फल फूल रही है. ! दंगल में गुरु जसराम जी ने सबको आशीर्वाद दिए , और पहलवानों को हौसला अफजाई की , गुरु जी को आदर सहित पगड़ी पहनाई गई ! गुरु जी किसी भी प्रकार की दान दक्षिणा कभी नहीं लेते , और यदि कोई दे भी तो वो उसे पहलवानों के हित में लगाने का हुकम देकर लौटा देते है, इस बार भी उनको दी गई सम्मान राशी उन्होंने, विजेता पहलवानों में बांटने का हुकम दिया , वो हमेशा ही ऐसा करते है , पुरे हिन्दुस्तान को सैकड़ों - हजारों पहलवान दे चुके गुरु जी, दिल्ली में पहलवानों के श्रेष्ठ गुरु कहलाये जाते है! जयप्रकाश पहलवान , राजिंदर पहलवान, श्री पहलवान, गुरु रंगीला अखाडा के भूपेश कुमार पहलवान, हरपाल पहलवान, कुलही पुरिया प्रकाश पहलवान , खचेडू पहलवान जैसे कुश्ती की महान विभूतियों को समानित किया गया. पहलवानों ने शानदार कुश्तियां दिखा कर दर्शकों को मन्त्र मुग्ध कर दिया ! पहली कुश्ती विक्रम पहलवान गुरु जसराम और हरयाणा केसरी किरशन पहलवान के बीच हुई, समयाभाव के कारन कुश्ती को बराबर घोषित करना पड़ा. विजय कुंर जी ने सबका धन्यवाद कर दंगल का समापन किया थैंक्स दीपक अनुसूया


ENGLISH VERSION

Kidwai Nagar Akhara has been run by the same family for three generations. It was established by Guru Balram ji in 1956 and then his son Mangat Ram took over when he passed away. Now, the akhara is run by Guru Balram ji’s grandson, Guru Vijay Kumar. Kidwai Nagar Akhara has produced some great wrestlers over the years, like Raustam Raghubir Singh Bisht.

On New Year’s Day Guru Vijay Kumar, along with the Ram Dal Vyayaamshalaa committee, organized a dangal in honor of his late father. Many residents and shop owners of Kidwai Nagar also helped – an example of how the ancient sport of wrestling helps brings communities closer together in India.

The dangal committee invited Guru Jasram to be the chief guest and he was honored with pagri by Vijay Kumar ji. Sometimes the organizers try to give some money to the gurus for their hard work, but the gurus never take it for themselves. If they do accept, they donate it to the prize money so the wrestlers will benefit.

Among the other guests were veteran wrestlers Pandit Kulhi Puriya Prakash Pahalwan ji, Rajinder Pahalwan, Siri Pahalwan, Jai Prakash Pahlwan, Harpal Pahalwan, Bhupesh Pahalwan, Khalifa Khachedu.

The dangal started when the dirt pit was leveled and the ground was sanctified. Generally the younger wrestlers start things off so they have a chance to get some experience. Then the senior wrestlers compete.

A great wrestler named Bhola faced off against a wrestler named Ashish. Bhola nearly pinned Ashish three times, but it’s a little more difficult to get a pin in traditional Indian wrestling. A pin is called when both shoulders touch ground and the losing wrestler faces the sky. Finally, Bhola broke his opponent down and referee Ashok Pahwaln blew the whistle and called the pin.

In other matches, a wrestler named Parvesh from Guru Jasram Akhara pinned a local wrestler from Kidwai Nagar Akhara. Ravi of Guru Shyam lal Akhara (the son of Guru Harpal) won his match against a wrestler from Guru Ratan Akhara.

The first prize wrestling match was between two great wrestlers of India: Vikram Pahlwan of Guru Jasram and Krishan Pahalwan who is Haryana Kesari. Their bout was inaugurated by Guru Jasram. The match continued until the sun had set and was finally declared a draw.
