BENIA DEFEATS SUKHA TO WIN DANGAL TITLE

JAMMU, Apr 19: Benia of Jammu and Kashmir Police today lifted the "49th Annual Late Pujari Amar Nath Memorial Maha Dangal" by beating Sukha of Rajasthan in the main bout at Sports Stadium, Udhampur.

The dangal was organized by Amar Nath Dangal Samiti and Mukti Youth Club, Udhampur under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.

During the Maha Dangal, District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Bashir Ahmad Khan was chief guest. Member State Sports Council and president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the event. Senior Superintendent of Police Surinder Gupta and Chairman Shiv Parvati Shrine Development Board Moungri Swantantar Dev Kotwal were guests of honour.

The winner was awarded with cash prize of Rs 4500 along with Mali in addition to Silver Gurj (Gadda) and Patta while runners-up Sukha received Rs 3000 cash award.

About 37 bouts were played during the dangal. In second main bout, Kalu of Shiv Mandir Akhara Jammu trounced Raju of Kapurthalla in Punjab. The third bout clinched by Bobari of Jammu, who beat Veera of Kapurthalla. The fourth main bout was bagged by Kaka of Namashar, who down Akram of Jammu. The fifth bout went in favour of Rajesh Sharma of J&K Police, who beat Namam of Delhi.

Other Results: Shesh Kumar beat Ali, Yasheen defeated Devinder, Jamat Ali trounced Gurdev Singh, Makhan Din thrashed Billu, Subash Chander outplayed Kewal Krishan, Sat Paul beat Majeed, Sonu thrashed Ramesh Kumar, Devinder got better off Kaka, Krishan beat Billu, Baboo defeat Mangha, Prabhat Singh outplayed Sonu, Babu Din beat Vijay, Ajay won against Vijay and Dillar Khan defeated Farooq.

The bouts between Ajay and Yasheen, Bunty and Tirhtu, Gopal and Jaswant and Vijay and Deepu ended in a draw.
