ENGLISH VERSION

A great wrestling competition was held on June 6, in Lehar Patara Village, Madhya Pradesh.
The competition was the junior Bharat Kesari (Lion of Bharat) and Bharat Kumar (son of Bharat).
The people of district Morena are very fond of wrestling. Jagbeer Bhati said they simply love wrestling but they do not have any facilities with wrestling mats. They do not have any coach, and learn wrestling under the guru systems where gurus teach them traditional wrestling.
This is not sufficient to get medals in freestyle and Greco-roman wrestling, said Jagbeer Bhati.
The main objective of the event was to create more awareness of wrestling and to encourage more kids to take up wrestling.
Satpal Pahlawan, Mahabeer Pahalwan, Jagbeer Pahalwan, and Vinod Pahalwan organized the dangal and headed the village dangal committee.
All the village people of Lahar Patara Village helped them.
Wrestlers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajsthan, Delhi, and Madhya Pardesh participated.
The people of villages of district Morena and nearby places arrived early in the morning to watch the dangal and help in preparation.
National and international caliber wrestlers took part in the competition. The wrestlers from other states were provided with food and lodging by Mahabeer Pahlwan.
By the time the dangal started the ground was full of people. As usual, the young kids started the competition and they were given sweets as prizes.
Then came the wrestling matches for rs 10/-, 50/- 100/- and 500/-.
It was great to see all the younger wrestler eager to compete. They are the future of the sport.
After that junior wrestlers put on a great show they were awarded with 1100- 2100, then senior wrestler fought for 5100/- 11000/-, 21000/-.
The Junior bharat Kesari competition was won by Harinder Pahalwan who defeated a Haryana Wrestler.
And the Bharat Kumar competition was won by Sintu Gurjar Pahalwan who defeated a wrestler from Punjab.
The organizers invited us to a common kitchen for food prepared specially for us and visiting wrestlers and gurus of neighbouring states. We ate along with the wrestling community in the traditional way, it was a good experience.
The organizing committee invited us to stay the night. Their hospitality was wonderful – they didn’t want their guests to go. But we thanked them and decided to go back to Delhi as most of the wrestlers and gurus with us had things to do back home.
We left the wrestling venue after nightfall, and walked some 4-5 kilometers on foot to reach the town where we could catch a cab to the train station.
This area was once ruled by bandits. But we were met only by warm, welcoming people all the way, who are ready to share their food with 50 people going to Delhi.

Thanks for your explanation and images. The countryside reminds me of South Texas before irrigation came in. The sharing of food and the ceremonies reminds me of old Hawaiian ceremonies of Hula and luau, now much commercialized. I like it that you perpetuate ancient forms. May you have many more successes in international freestyle competitions such as Sushil Kumar has had!
