बेहटा - लोनी के सलीम पहलवान ने अपने क्षेत्र में कुश्ती कि विधा को केवल सजा संजो कर ही नहीं रखा , बल्कि उसका प्रचार प्रसार भी किया है. प्रतिमाह के पहले शनिवार को होने वाले दंगल के वह करता धर्ता है , उनके साथ उनके सुपुत्र , भाई -बंधू और लोनी के लोग मिलकर इस दंगल को यादगार दिन बना देते हैं. सलीम पहलवान उन विरले महान लोगों में हैं जो पहलवानो के लिए इनाम के लिए अपनी मेहनत कमाई खर्च करते हैं , और जितना अच्छा पहलवान उतना अच्छा इनाम , क्योंकि पहलवानो से वे भली तरह परिचित जो हैं। हालांकि दंगल में बहुत ज्यादा बड़ा नकद इनाम नहीं होता लेकिन एक विजयी पहलवान के लिए दर्शकों में उसका, उसके गुरु,, गाँव,अखाड़े, का नाम रोशन होना एक बड़े सम्मान कि बात हैं. दंगल के दिन सुबह से ही दंगल कि व्यवस्था कि कार्यवाही शुरू हो जाती है, अखाड़े को बनाना, साउंड, लाइट कि व्यवस्था करना , दंगल में दर्शकों के लिए स्थान बनाना , दंगल के दिन आस पास के घरों कि छतों को खाली कर दिया जाता है ताकि लोग वहाँ से भी दंगल सकें। दंगल में हमेशा नामी गिरामी गुरु, खलीफा कोच और समाज,राजनीति, तथा अन्य सेवा कार्यों से जुडी हस्तियां भाग लेती है , बड़े चाव से सलीम भाई जनता को उनसे रु बी रु कराते हैं. दंगल में आने वाले लोगों को गले से लगाना , "आजा मेरे भाई" सलीम भाई कि ख़ास अदा है , यही कारण है कि वो क्षेत्र में लोगों के चहेते हैं.मै जब दंगल में पहुंचा तो उन्होंने गले ,लगाया , पगड़ी और माला पहनाकर स्वागत किया , उनका में तहे दिल से आभारी हूँ , तकरीबन हर गुरु , खलीफा या अतिथियों का ऐसा ही स्वागत सलीम पहलवान करते हैं. क्षेत्र के सभी बड़े छोटे , महिला या पुरुष पहलवान सलीम भाई के दंगल में लड़े हुए हैं , और उन्हें इस बात का फक्र हैं. "मुझे ऊपर वाले ने बहुत नियामते दी हैं, मै जब तक जान रहेगी पहलवानी के लिए अपना यह कर्म करता रहूँगा " सलीम भाई कहते हैं वास्तव में ऐसी शक्शियत को मेरा
ENGLISH VERSION
Salim Phalwan has kept the tradition of kushti alive in the village of Behta of Loni, near Delhi. He was a great wrestler himself in his day and now he organizes a traditional wrestling competition every month at Loni.
“I loved kushti in my time and have fought with the best wrestlers,” says Salim Pahlwan. “I want to promote the culture of kushti around my locality and want to keep the tradition of wrestling continue here.” Salim Pahlwan says he will be working for wrestling “throughout my life.”
The wrestling competition draws wrestling gurus and coaches from all over and often influential people like political leaders or celebrities join in.
Salim pahlwan is helped by his son, family members and friends and relatives who contribute prize money which he gives to the winning wrestlers. The awards may not be as great as at some other dangals, but they are sufficient to make the winner happy. After all, it is not only the money which counts here, the announcement of the winner, his guru, village is also a great motivating factor and honorable indeed.
Salim pahlwan welcomes everybody with open an heart and many times announced my name and about how I am working to promote kushti.
Many people came to me requesting a photograph, or to be photographed with their favorite wrestlers. I oblige humbly and the event went on from the bouts of the children to juniors, seniors and then the third, second and first prize matches.
In between the gurus, coaches and dignitaries were brought honored with pagadi as is a tradition at dangala.
Salim pahlwan brought me a pagadi and garland and wished me good luck in my work. You can also go watch the dangal every month on the first Saturday of the month

Kaka wins Patiri Bishnah Kesari dangal title

JAMMU: Wrestler Kaka of RS Pura in Jammu District clinched the Seventh Patiri- Bishnah Kesari Dangal which was organised by Patiri- Bishnah Dangal Committee in association with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association at village Patiri in Tehsil Bishnah.
In the main bout, Kaka defeated Inderjeet of Amritsar in Punjab to receive a cash prize of Rs 7,000. Runners-up, Inderjeet got Rs 4,000 cash prize from Chief Guest, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Ashwani Sharma.
President J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided while Treasurer, Prithvi Raj Sharma and Block Development Officer, Rakesh Dubey were Guests of Honour.
Sarpanch Surjeet Singh Charak was among other prominent present.
The second main bout won by Jonny of Attari in Punjab beating Lallu of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu to become rich by Rs 5,000. Third bout went to Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal, who defeated Bobari of Sarore while Asaf of Bajrangi Akhara in Jammu secured fourth bout beating Babba of Attari in Punjab. In the fifth bout, Amir Khan of Nargada outplayed Pinda of Amritsar. Shinda of Amritsar beat Murad Ali of Domana Akhara to win the sixth main bout.
Members of Organising Committee and those technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of Dangal were Surinder Sharma (President), Girdhari Lal, Ramesh Chander Sharma, Panch Ashok Kumar, Panch Yash Paul Bhagat, Sardari Lal. Joginder Lal Sharma, Master Prem Kumar, Mohammad Fareed, Prem Choudhary and Murli Dhar. In all, 45 bouts took place in this day-long Dangal. Other Results: Tirthu of Manwal beat Suraj of Sunikha, Sujjan Ali of Domana defeated Parshotam Singh of Tar Talocha, Vicky outplayed Suram Singh, Anyat Ali of Manwal trounced Jamat Ali of Jatti, Gopal of Amritsar downed Kashmira of Dinanagar and Mohammad Akram of Chouadi blanked Mukha of Dinanagar.

Here is my attempt to shed some light on these youngsters who have dedicated their lives for this sport.
Hoping in return it brings them the whatever they are looking for.
It is also an attempt to show the apathy of Indian government towards this sport and its players.

Pamma lifts Chatha Gujjarn Kesari title

KATRA, Nov 1: 67th Chatha Gujjarn (Marh) Kesari Vishal Dangal event was organized by Jai Peer Baba Dangal Committee Chatha Gujjarn Marh in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, Subash Chander Sharma and Numberdar Puran Chand at village Chatha (Marh), in Jammu today.
85 bouts were played wherein local wrestlers fron Doda, Udhampur, Jammu, Kathua, R.S Pura, Reasi, J&K Police, besides wrestlers from Punjab and Harayana participated.
Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the wrestlers. Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Retd SP and Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association Prithvi Raj Sharma and Harminder Singh were the guests of honour.
The first main thrilling bout was fought between wrestler Pamma of Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab and wrestler Benia of J&K Police. Bout was won by Pamma that lasted for 31 minutes. A cash prize of Rs 45,000 was given to wrestler Pamma by the chief guest, while Benia was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 by Banarsi Dass Sharma, general Secretary, Numberdar Puran Chand, president and Subash Chander Sharma, chairman of Dangal Committee.

Today on 01-11-2013,on the eve of Mahavir Jyanti a dangal was organized by Bajrangi Akhara (Affiliated Unit of J&K Wrestling Association), Shalamar Road, Jammu under the Presidentship of Sh. Pardeep Sharma, President Bajrangi Akhara Jammu.
Sh. Ashok Khajuria, MLA Jammu East was the Chief Guest of the said function and Sh. Kiran Wattal, Commissioner Jammu Municipality will be Guest of Honour of the said function. Nearly 60 wrestlers of J&K in various weight categories have participated. Sh. Dushyant Sharma, Former President Wrestling Federation of India and President, J&K Wrestling Association also present during the said dangal. Some are the other members present in the meeting are:-
