JAMMU, Nov 09: Pahalwan Pamma of Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab lifted the Sixth Annual Nagrota Kesari Dangal title outplaying Gurvinder Singh of Garh Shanker, again from Punjab, in a tough bout that lasted for 27 minutes at Nagrota, near here.
Member Legislative Assembly, Jugal Kishore Sharma was chief guest, who along with president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presented a cash prize of Rs 13,000 to pahalwan Pamma while runners-up, Gurvinder got Rs 8,000 as prize money. The day-long dangal was organised by Nagrota Dangal Committee under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
In all, 58 bouts were played in this dangal. The second main bout between pahalwan Benia of J&K Police and Sombir of Rohtak in Haryana remained undecided resulting into organizers gave away Rs 6,000 to both the wrestlers. In the third main bout, Bhurra of Pathankot defeated pahalwan Kundu Patel of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi. Pahalwan Pintu of Pathankot clinched the fourth bout trouncing Rishi Paul of Jullandhar in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Kumar Sharma complimented Nagrota Dangal Committee for making the event a regular feature for the last six years.
Technical officials, who helped in the smooth conduct of dangal included Om Parkash Sharma, Mohd Fareed, Madan Lal and Ashu. Association members, who contributed for the success of dangal included Madan Lal, Varinder Sharma, Kulwant Singh, Zorawar Singh, Neeraj Kumar, Koshal Kumar, Heem Raj, Vijay Kumar, Ved Paul and Ashu.
