Everything was perfect for this dangal in a village in Haryana. Delhi had been experiencing terrible fog, but in the afternoon in Sampli in Haryana, the sun was bright and the air was clean. In some ways, traditional wrestling in India is in decline, but on this day -- not even a weekend -- thousands of spectators gathered to watch the action. The dangal was held in honor of a raj-era government official who stood up for farmers who were being cheated out of their land. And it showed that the popularity of Indian-style wrestling is alive and well in rural India.
