Mumbai, Jan 20: Rajendra Patil (Solapur), the holder of the Siddheshwar Kesari title, is all set to challenge Janardan Singh Yadav (Gorakhpur) two-time winner of the Uttar Pradesh Kesari title in the Supremo Cup Wrestling Jamboree at the Shahaji Raje Kreeda Sankul in Andheri (W) on January 23.
Organised jointly by the Mumbai Shahar-Upanagar Talim Mahasangh and Shiv Sena Vibhag 2, the 'dangal' will feature more than 80 bouts involving wrestlers from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.
The other prominent bouts which promise a keen contest are between Aba Sool from Satara, a runner-up in the Maharashyra Kesari competiton and Lalji Yadav (Jr), winner of the Uttar Pradesh Kesari title. Kantilal Jadhav, who had fought Asian Games gold medallist Narsingh Yadav for 45 minutes, is another huge attraction as he takes on army-man and Benaras Kesari Santosh Kumar in another high-profile encounter.
For the die-hard fans, the three bouts featuring Satish Kumar, Sumeet Kumar and Sujeet Kumar -- the sons of the well-known Lalji Yadav (Sr.) -- will be a visit down memory lane. Lalji, an oft crowned UP Kesari, was a popular wrestler and it is a good opportunity for his sons to take forward his legacy. Kundalik Gaikwad, Kallu Yadav, Rakesh Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Bipin Verma and Jagannath Mane are the other big names in the fray.
The 'dangal' will commence in the afternoon at 1530 hrs and is expected to draw a full house on the day, said Ananda Dhumal, secretary of the Mahasangh.
